Quilting FabricsChoosing the right fabrics for your quilt is one of the most important decisions you can make. Here are tips from other quilters who have been there, done that! Batting & Backing (13) Fabric Color (14) Fabric Quality (7) Top rated tips Warm and Natural Batting Material | April 22 1:06 pm
A popular batting material is "Warm and Natural" needled cotton batting. This batting comes in a sheet and will not bunch or clump together no matter how many times the quilt is washed. The cotton is needle punched that allows the batting to take on a comfortable texture without the additions of resins or glues. The even consistency of the batting makes hand quilting a breeze, but the material is also popular with machine quilters. Labeling Batting Scraps | July 25 7:52 pm I usually end up with pretty good sized pieces of batting left over after I finish a quilt. They are usually perfect to use in table runners, baby quilts and other small projects. But when I was ready to use them, it took forever to unfold each one to find the right size. Now, when I have batting pieces left over I make a label on a scrap of paper and safety pin it to the scrap before I fold it up and put it away. On the label I put the dimensions and any other info like the type of batting it is, if it's fusible or not, etc. Meggan HolzerBig Savings | January 18 8:56 am I know that after this holiday season, I went to my local store and got holiday printed fabric for 25 and 50 cents a yard. I could not believe my eyes and of course I bought out all their inventory. There were many different Christmas and other holiday patterns to choose from, I was in heaven Faith Hevlow, Coral Springs, FL Faith Hevlow |
